Dull Bedroom Makeovers

Filed Under Home Decor | Comments Off

It’s not uncommon to leave your bedroom for last when it comes to decorating your home, since nobody really sees it anyway. So if you’re running out of time and/or money for decorating, what do you do with that dull and boring bedroom? Here are some simple and inexpensive ways to spruce up that dull bedroom.

Paint the Walls
If you’re looking to spruce up a dull bedroom, the easiest thing to do by far is to paint the walls. Painting the walls is one of the quickest ways to add both color and style to a room. Although it’s important to choose a color you like, it’s also important that it adds some interest to the room. In order to ensure the décor is cohesive, choose a paint color that accents or matches the accessories you plan on having in the room.

Add an Interesting or Colorful Bed Set
Since the bed tends to be the largest item in the bedroom, it usually serves as a focal point for the space. Thus, a great way to add interest to the bedroom is by adding color to your wooden bed. Try to find a patterned or colorful bed set that’s both interesting and coordinates with the other items in the room. Along with the new comforter or bedspread, toss a few decorative pillows onto the bed. If you’d prefer to stay away from a patterned bed set, then get a set that’s a single color and add accent pillows in a contrasting color to add interest to the area.

Hang Photographs on the Walls
Are the walls in your bedroom completely bare? Then hang up some items to add pizzazz and style to the décor. An easy way to cover your walls is to hang up framed photographs of you and your family. You might also consider hanging photographs of nature scenes such as ocean shots or pictures of flowers. Or if you like, go with some old black-and-white photographs.

If you’re looking for something a little different or photos just aren’t your thing, then a better option might be to hang an eye-catching piece of art on the wall. For those of you who are creative, you might even make the artwork yourself. You might even consider basing your entire bedroom décor off that art piece, an approach that can be very inspiring when it comes to design.

Add a New Piece of Furniture
If there’s space in the bedroom, you might consider adding a new furnishing, which will make it more interesting. Replace your old or out-of-style furniture with new pieces, as this will lend more style to the room as well. For instance, you might invest in a wooden dresser, chest or bench for the end of the bed, a new dresser, or if you can afford it, even a new bed.

The bedroom is meant to be a refuge from the world where you can relax and enjoy hanging out. Having a dull and boring bedroom is no fun at all, but if you follow some of these simple suggestions, you can quickly create a stylish and interesting retreat where you will love spending time.
